[By The Stone]
In 2004 Jim Miller (Keys, Vocals), Sean Daudelin (Drums), and Rob Miller (Bass) began to collaborate on a new Progressive Metal recording project in their Boston, Massachusetts area studio. With the addition of guitarist Matt Murphy in 2006, the result was [by the stone], a lyrical and musical departure from the music of the current generation. Melodic leads, edgy keyboards, and double bass, [by the stone] attempts to write the latest chapter in a book that Pink Floyd started over 40 years ago.

- "These metallers lay down some excellent riffs in their debut self-titled EP. Sometimes doomy, sometimes with speed, it's all good."
- Sea of Tranquility - "The music on this five-track introduction certainly is atmospheric, almost apocalyptically so in aggressively gunge-y fashion."
- Progression Magazine - "By The Stone serves up a bold platter of blazing, progressive hard rock...this quartet weaves complex arrangements with ease while their emotive vocals screen for vindication."
- Metronome Magazine - "heavy intensity by this new U.S. group with a sound that combines the heaviness of Tool with the atmosphere of Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree"
